| Dave specializes in providing tax, litigation support and consulting services to Dansa & D’Arata’s closely held businesses and high-net-worth individual clients in Western New York. The litigation support services include business valuations, tax case representation and fraud investigations.
Formerly a Partner and founder of D’Arata & Company LLP, Dave was also associated with a large regional accounting firm specializing in divorce, litigation support and business valuations.
Selected experiences:
• Retained by the City of Buffalo to investigate potential embezzlements by city employees.
• Provided forensic accounting assistance relative to partnership litigation.
• Assisted in the negotiation and structuring of the sale of a manufacturing business in Buffalo, NY.
• Provided expert testimony in a shareholder business valuation dispute.
• Developed an estate plan through the use of family partnerships for a high-net-worth individual that resulted in the sheltering of $5 million in U.S. estate taxes.
Dave has also taught numerous seminars, including: The Foundation for Accounting Education (NYS Society of Certified Public Accountants); Tax Consequences of Marital Dissolutions and The CPA’s Role in Divorce Process Conference (Child Support Standards Act: The Accountant’s Viewpoint). He has also written a publication entitled, The Dependency Exemption in Marital Dissolutions, for The CPA Journal, May 1989.
Professional/Community Affiliations: American Institute of Certified Public Accountants; Domestic Relations Committee of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants; NCAA Frozen Four Hockey Tournament (treasurer); Cherry Hill Golf Club (past president, past treasurer), and the Canisius High School Advisory Board. Dave is also a member of various advisory boards for selected clientele.
Education: Dave holds a B.B.A. degree in Accounting from Niagara University.
